The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) said that flights from Edinburgh and Glasgow to Sharm El-Sheikh will resume next year, after the travel company "TUI" included the airports of those cities in the winter holiday program for 2020.
The announcement comes after the UK government lifted a travel ban to the Egyptian resort, which was imposed in 2015.
Weekly flights are scheduled to start from Edinburgh from November 2, and from Glasgow on November 4.
TUI has already announced a resubmission of holidays to Sharm el-Sheikh from UK airports next year, including Gatwick, Manchester and Birmingham.
Gordon Dewar, CEO of Edinburgh Airport, said: "It is good to see Sharm El-Sheikh returning to the list of destinations in the busiest airports in Scotland to provide more options for our passengers, something that we are always looking to provide. Sharm el-Sheikh has long been a popular destination for vacationers. This service is with people’s choices for the winter sun and summer.
