Cairo International Film Festival , granted The famed American actor Billy Zane Special Tribute Award in its 41st edition on Wednesday, November 26.
Zane said that Egypt contribution to the cinema industry is incomparable for the region and beyond. ‘’ Your landscapes have changed cinema forever, with the advent of wide screen cinema scope and lenses employed as the only means to capture beauty, I hope to one day film in front of these landscapes with your talented filmmakers and actors.
Zane Added : I would like to thank Cairo International Film Festival, for this great honour, truly it stands as one of the most memorable experiences of my life’’
‘’Your hospitality is match with your kindness and cuisine, this honour means the world to me, because you are the world’ Zane added.
Cairo International Film Festival kicked off on November 20 and ended on the 29th of November.
the festival was attened by international and Arabic Film industry heavyweights such as : Billy Zane, Terry Gilliam , Nathalie Emmanuel,Ahmed Helmy, Mona Zaki, Yousra, Khaled Selim,Hend Sabry, Laila Elwi, Bushra, Hussein Fahmy, Nour, Shereen Reda, Rogina , Nadia el Gendy, Menna Shalaby, Sherif Arafa and others.
The international director, screenwriter, actor and animator, Terry Gilliam was also honoured during the festival.
“The Irishman” was the opening movie of the festival and Mexico was chosen to be the country in focus in this edition.
