Egyptian Ministry of tourism suspends new licenses for diving and safari yacht centers to protect the Red Sea coral reefs.

 Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, the Egyptian Minister of Tourism, has issued a temporarily ministerial resolution for one year to suspend  new licenses for diving and safari yacht centers in South Sinai and the Red Sea

The decision came after discussions with the Egyptian ministry of environment and requests from the environmental organisations in an attempt to decrease the coral reef degradation due to manmade activities.

The decision does not include centers of kitesurfing and windsurfing or sail boats, as well as centers that submitted licensing requests on a date prior to the issuance of the resolution.

the ministirial resolution also prohibited the addition of any new maritime activities and the  addition of any boats other than those currently in operation at licensed centers.
